Day 151 & 152--Fatigued by Flooring

Backwater Check Up

Laying tile is exhausting!! The bathroom is small and you have to contort your body into all sorts of configurations to reach everything you need without messing up the parts you have already laid. All of the full size tiles are laid and next is cutting all of the strange shaped ones needed to finish the edges.

Dave continues to weave the old and new floors together and it is really blending together well.

In addition to staggering the ends of the boards, he has the opportunity to fix some flaws in the floor.  A spot in the dining room had water damage when we ripped up the carpet, but Dave was able to cut the end of those boards off and put new wood in so that we would not have a water stain as a focal point when you walk in the back door.

We got the final estimates for the driveway this week. They range from $10,000-$15,000 for a new driveway and sidewalk. We are hoping to still get one this summer, but it is slow going.

Today the city plumber came out to see if we were eligible for the backwater prevention rebate program the city is starting. He scoped our sewer lines and they look clear as can be back to the main. Even if we cannot put in the backwater valve, it is a relief to know it is all clear, no roots given all the overgrowth around the house and no other blockages.
