Two Years --Another House-aversary
I cannot believe that it has been 2 years since we bought the house. Back then the changes each day were drastic and necessary; today the changes are still constant, but not as noticeable on day to day basis.
We finished transforming the outside right up until the weather stopped us. In July, we continued to rip off all the siding and Dave patched all the places where we had changed the windows and replaced any boards that where bad.
In August, we began working our way around the house to scrap, paint 2 coats of a special peel stop primer, and paint each and every surface on the house. It was a long process that we did not finish before the snow flew.
Our work was interrupted in August to have insulation added to the outside walls. In most places, we could remove an exterior board, drill holes to blow the insulation in, and then plug the holes and put the exterior board in back in place but in the screen porch and breezeway, we had to go right through the finished walls.
In August, I also painted the front door, which began to change the look of the house from the curb.
Then at the end of August, the outside changed again when we got new gutters.
But what really changed the outside look of the house was the new concrete steps, driveway, back entry, and patio.
The final change to the outside before winter came was the new accent wall and house numbers by the front door.
Since the weather got cold, work has moved inside. Dave continues to finish wood trim, update the electric, and build walls in the basement to create a new room, separate the bathroom, and create a workshop.
In September, we got the new wardrobes for our bedroom and so then Dave could finish putting shelves and hanging rods in our closet
And what did he do for our 2 year anniversary! He finally wired the light in the hall outside the bedrooms and he leveled the floor in front of the fireplace--someone's favorite spot.
