Day 45--A Clean Slate
Another Re-Store Visit
This afternoon Dave and I headed to the Re-Store to look for doors. We need a door for the pocket door in the water closet. We are also trying to decide what to put on the bathroom door and the laundry room door. We left Re-store with a $20 36 inch door to cut down and some fun stuff shown above. Dave is excited about the doorbell button in the very center and I just cannot wait to find a way to use the mismatched glass knobs. I am thinking beverage station.
Tonight Mary and Jim came and helped us to clean up some. Jim worked on cleaning the mastic off the wall in the laundry room
It was all red like on the right, but now it looks great.
While he worked on that, Dave took out the rest of the plaster in the master bathroom.
And Mary cleaned the wallpaper residue off the main bathroom wall.
Finally, Mary and I ripped up a section of the carpet in the living room. I have been trying to decide what to do about flooring. We are missing about 100 square feet that used to be kitchen asbestos, but is not in the bathrooms or laundry room. It is the new hallway and the area between the breezeway door and the stairs. We have been concerned that we might need to use the kitchen floor to patch in the living room if it was water damaged. If not, then we need to find red oak to match our current floors. It all hinged on the living room floor, so we ripped out the carpet by the fireplace, and....
It is perfect, no water damage...so I guess now we find 100 sq feet of matching red oak for the hallway.
