Day 24--What a Schitt show!

When it Melts it Pours

So our pet name for the house has been Schitt Show from the beginning, but it really lived up to its name today.

Dave left the house for a few hours to go with me to order our cabinets from the most wonderful Amish furniture builder. When he got back to the house, water was actually streaming into the living room. The mantel paint is peeling off, the carpet is soaked, the wall on the fire place is bulging, it is a huge mess.

Dave put buckets in the attic to stop the stream--and then we discovered the weight of the snow is breaking the dormer more than we already knew about.

We also finally heard from the structural engineer, so we went up to the attic to rip up more plywood and to take more pictures of the messed up joists so that he might actually finally get the job done.

In much better news, the plumber came and actually stayed this time (the last 2 times he came and left within a couple of minutes). We actually have signs of plumbing going into the house.

In other plumbing news, the bathtub for the hall bathroom came out of the box and looks great.

And the new portable shower for the basement that we had to get so we could move in came today (and it is already mustee--who calls a shower that?)
.

We also met someone about windows and by the end of the week, we should have an estimate on getting exactly what we want installed.

So to sum up
Good: Cabinets, Windows, Plumbing, New bathtub,  A shower so we can move
Schitt: Leaking ceiling, sinking roof, incorrect joists, the shower

Here is a game to end the day called 2 Truths and A Lie--well meaning professional developers like me use it on unsuspecting people like you. I will say 3 statements--2 are true and 1 is a lie. Can you find the lie?

1. I called our realtor to see if there was a 30 day money back guarantee on the house.
2. I started a Go-Fund-Me for the roof repairs.
3. We got a passed due bill for a portion of the 2020 property taxes on the house.

If you guessed that  1 and 3 are true, then you are right...but seriously, all donations to fix the roof will be appreciated.
