Day 18--The Walls are Changing
What a Roller Coaster of a Day
I am not sure where to even begin today. First, we got back the estimate for the electrical rough-in and it was much higher than expected. We need to seriously reconsider doing the electrical ourselves. Then I got an email from our wood floor person, Robert, saying that they could schedule us on March 3rd for the bedroom and hall floors. Ah! We move on March 1st.
After some panic, an email response about the situation and how upset I was, and trying to contact others who gave us estimates, Robert called to apologize and say that he had moved someone else's job (sorry someone else) and we were back on the schedule for Monday the 22nd. Whew!
Somewhere during my wood floor panic, the Amish cabinet builder called to say that he would like me to come in next week to talk through my plans. They could start building in the next couple of weeks. Yay!!
I spent some time trying to contact electricians for a 2nd opinion and to find a plumber, but no luck--and then Shelley, our realtor, saved the day on the plumbing. She connected us with someone who is available to begin working on it this Friday. Yay again!
After work tonight, Shelley, Lauryn and I painted the non-accent walls in the bedrooms this lovely shade of gray. Lauryn did her whole room and Shelley wiped out those walls while I did the edging in both of the other bedrooms. No one did the ceiling yet (Dad, where are you?)
While we painted, Dave and Chad built some new walls. Chad is featured at the top of the page carrying in 2x4s. The top picture above is taken from inside the new master bathroom looking a the wall that separates the bathroom from the laundry room and the long wall that runs along the new hallway. The bottom picture shows the doorway to the new laundry/mud room just inside the breezeway door.
At the end of the night, we were all too tired and hungry to go back downstairs to turn off the basement light (Look by the orange cord--Dave replaced some weak floorboards after his foot went through them)!
