Day 15-DeConstruction

Lauryn Loses It

Dave and I slept in this morning and then began our morning at deConstruction looking for matching doors, hardware, floors, and furniture for the house. We did not find anything that we were looking for, but deConstruction was full of some great stuff and we had fun looking.

After clearing snow AGAIN, Dave headed to the store to get sprayer heads for the painter and Lauryn and I headed to Home Depot again. Then we headed to the house to continue our own deconstruction.

Lauryn and I had quite a drive on slippery, snowy roads with these boards hanging outside the window.

Our friend Chad stopped by and he and Dave cut out the rest of the walls at the top of the stairs and opened up the walls.  The house continues to transform. Check out this.

Chad also helped us rip down the water damaged ceiling in the living room and guess what we found. Another water damaged ceiling covered up by a new one.

This house just keeps bringing surprises. What do we do with this? Looks like we will be ripping out the living room ceiling.  We also discovered during this adventure that the ceiling rafters are running in the opposite direction in this part of the house (as is the floor). In light of these new developments, Dave and I are changing our original plans and keeping the front entryway.  That means those delightful arches get to stay and we will be putting the other ones back into the new wider openings.

Can you find all 4 of the original arches in this picture?

As for Lauryn, I think the house broke her. She cannot possibly sand another window or door frame. She quits! Unless we let her paint something, then she might come back.

  1. I've been reading your journey and it's amazing! I'm so glad you have a good attitude.

I've been in the house many times and I'm trying to figure it out now that the walls are down!
