Day 12--Floors Up, Walls Down

And the walls came tumbling...

Actually no, these walls do not come down easily.  Dave built a plastic tent to try to contain the plaster dust today as he used a diamond blade to cut through the wall today.  As you can tell, the dust still escaped and filled the air.

The bottom of the stairs from the attic has on opening of only about 30 inches. We are opening it up and making the closet smaller so that when we finish the upstairs, the landing is more open and we can get furniture up the stairs.

We do not have a great before picture of the space, but here is the lightswitch picture that shows how close the closet and the stairs are. Here is how open it looks with the plaster and drywall gone.

While Cortez and Dave focused on removing the walls, Grayson kept working on getting the carpet out of the bedrooms. Teagan's and Lauryn's rooms have the wood floors exposed now.

Behind the scenes today, the first plumber visited the house for an estimate on rough in and an additional plumber contacted me to begin an estimate from our plans. I also heard back from the Amish cabinet builder that we contacted. He let me know that he might have an opening to build our cabinets before April if I mail our plans to him. I am working to get those plans finished and sent to him ASAP.

What will tomorrow bring...?
